(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Habaraduwa Police have launched a special investigation into a theft of 30 doses of Sinopharm vaccine following a complaint lodged by the Habaraduwa Medical Officer of Health.
Police are investigating a driver and a minor employee attached to the Habaraduwa Medical Officer of Health office who are suspected to be involved in the incident.
According to the complaint lodged by the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in Habaraduwa with the police, the stolen stock of Sinopharm injections is valued at Rs 90,000.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that Habaraduwa Police began an investigation into the incident.
In addition, the Galle SSP has also ordered the Galle Divisional Crime Unit to conduct a special investigation into the incident.
A team of officers from the Galle Divisional Crime Unit is also investigating the recent misuse of vaccines at the District Medical Officer of Health office in Unawatuna, Galle.
