Parliamentarian Jayantha Ketagoda resigns from his position as a Member of Parliament

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Parliamentarian Jayantha Ketagoda, National List Member of Parliament for the Sri Lanka People’s Front (SLPP) has informed the Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake in writing today (06) that he will resign from his post as a Member of Parliament.

Accordingly, the Secretary General of Parliament has taken steps to inform the Chairman of the Election Commission in writing that a vacancy has been created given his resignation.

Parliamentarian Jayantha Ketagoda was first elected to Parliament in 2000 representing the Colombo District. After dissolving the Parliament, he was later elected to Parliament in 2001.

He then became a Member of Parliament in 2011 and was elected to Parliament in 2020 as a National List Member of Parliament for the Sri Lanka People’s Front. Until his resignation, he acted as the deputy national organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and also served as a member of the Committee on Public Petitions and Ministerial Consultative Committee on Highways of the 9th Parliament.
