(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Father Cyril Gamini was summoned to the CID today (28) in connection with a complaint lodged by the Director of the State Intelligence Service, Major General Suresh Sallay. However, Fr. Cyril Gamini was not present at the CID today.
The director of the State Intelligence Service had complained that a group of Catholic priests including Fr. Cyril Gamini had made false claims about him at an online forum through Zoom on 23 October 2021 regarding the Easter Sunday attack.
Father Cyril Gamini has reportedly alleged that the Sri Lankan intelligence units had provided financial and other vital assistance to the leader of the National Thowheed Jamath, Saharan Hashim, who led the suicide attacks on Easter Sunday in 2019.
The SIS Director has requested the CID to conduct an investigation as the allegations made by Fr. Cyril Gamini endanger his life as well as the lives of his family members.
Accordingly, Fr. Cyril Gamini was summoned to the CID today. However, sending three members of his party to the CID, Fr. Cyril Gamini had requested that he be given another week to make the relevant statement. The CID has given permission for that.
