(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The final vote on the third reading of the Appropriation Bill (Budget) for next year (2022) will be held in Parliament today (10) at 5.00 pm, the Parliament Communications Department said.
The vote on the third reading of the budget will take place after 28 days of lengthy debates.
Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa presented the Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill (Budget Speech) for the Fiscal Year 2022 in parliament on 12 November.
Thereafter, the second reading debate of the Budget commenced on the 13th of last month and lasted for seven days. The Second Reading of the budget was passed with a majority of 93 votes.
Thereafter, the Committee Stage Debate on the Budget which commenced on November 23 is due to end today.
It is reported that the leaders of the government and the opposition have informed their members to stay in Colombo today as the final vote on the budget is being held.
Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said that the security arrangements in Parliament will be tightened today due to the final vote on the budget.
