(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has appointed a committee chaired by a retired Court of Appeal judge to look into issues in the medical service. The Ministry of Health has also decided to publish the annual transfer list of specialist doctors soon.
The Minister of Health has also decided to hold further discussions with all parties to reach a decision regarding the annual transfers of medical officers of the specialist grade.
Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena has informed this yesterday (23) in a letter to the Government Medical Officers’ Association which is on strike since Tuesday.
The decision was taken after a discussion with representatives of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) at the Ministry of Health on the 22nd, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said in a letter to the union.
The letter also states that the Minister of Health has already prepared and submitted the necessary documents to draft legislation to expedite the election of its officers in accordance with the election regulations of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
The letter further states that the Minister of Health has already requested the Public Service Commission to provide further details on the date of implementation of the Annual Transfers of Graded Medical Officers.
The letter informs that the Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella has stated that there will be no political interference in any ordinary appointment, transfer or other ordinary activities or any violation of the instructions given by the Ministry of Health or the Public Service Commission or any interference in the administrative procedures of the Ministry of Health.
