(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Another consignment of the U.S. manufactured Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine purchased by the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) has been brought to the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake early Tuesday morning (28).
This consignment of 1,147,770 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine is to be given to the public as the booster dose for the Covid control process in Sri Lanka.
The vaccine stock weighing 4,485 kilograms and packed in 137 boxes, was first airlifted from the United States to Amsterdam in the Netherlands and then to Sri Lanka via Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
Steps have been taken to transport the vaccine doses which need to be stored at -80 Celsius to the Central Warehousing Complex in Colombo by special refrigerated trucks of the Sri Lanka Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
