(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –The number of SLTB buses and office trains operating from today has been increased as all public servants are to report for duty today as usual and government schools reopen for the new year.
More than 5,000 buses are added to the daily service, said Panduka Swarnahansa, Deputy General Manager of Sri Lanka Transport Board.
Public service activities will resume as usual from today. Previously, only essential employees were called up for public service due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government stated that the relevant instructions have already been issued to the Secretaries of the Ministries and the Heads of Public Institutions.
Accordingly, the public service will resume its normal operation from today and pregnant mothers in the public service should also attend in accordance with the prescribed procedures, said Secretary to the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government JJ Ratnasiri.
Meanwhile, the first school term of 2022 begins today. The Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena stated that the authorities have been instructed to maintain school activities in accordance with the health guidelines issued regarding the functioning of schools.
