Sri Lanka to construct four flyovers with Hungarian financial aid to ease traffic congestion

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka and Hungary have entered into a finance corporation agreement to provide concessionary finance facilities through the Hungarian Exim Bank for implementing infrastructure development projects in the country.

Projects to construct flyovers at Kohuwala and Getambe are currently in progress under the financial assistance from Hungary.

In addition to those projects, the Road Development Authority has identified the necessity of implementing projects to alleviate traffic consignation in Muththettugala railway crossing and Hiripitiya junction, Pasyala junction, Negombo Maristella junction and Thalawathugoda junction of the national road network.

Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Highways to construct 04 flyovers at those locations, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on 18 January.
