PM emphasizes that support of professionals is essential for the development of the country

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Wednesday emphasized that the assistance of professionals is essential to oversee the development process of the country and that the Government expects the assistance of professionals for the further development of the country.

The Premier made these remarks when he met with the new staff of the Organization of Professionals Associations (OPA) of Sri Lanka at Temple Trees yesterday afternoon (02).

Dulith Perera, President of the Organization of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka said OPA is a collective of 52 associations representing 32 professions, including medicine, engineering, law, and accounting, and it is ready to support the development program being carried out by the government on a voluntary basis.

Appreciating the support of the professionals for the development of the country, the Prime Minister requested the Ministers and the relevant Ministers to join hands and contribute to the development of the country. He also mentioned that the government will provide the necessary support to the Organization of Professionals Associations for this purpose.

Organization of Professionals Associations (OPA) of Sri Lanka is a body of professionals presently belonging to, 52 member associations catering to 32 disciplines with a total membership of over 50,000.
