(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Construction of the 37 km stretch of the Central Expressway from Kadawatha to Mirigama is currently underway and about 25% of the work is nearing completion, according to the project director’s office.
Project Director Nalin Ratnayake explained that the construction of the Central Expressway near the Kadawatha Interchange on the Colombo Outer Circular Highway will be built on 23 meter high pillars and 15 km on the 37 km section from Kadawatha to Mirigama will be constructed on pillars.
The Director also explained that the Kadawatha – Mirigama section consists of 03 interchanges at Gampaha, Veyangoda and Mirigama South and the previously planned Gampaha South partial interchange in the Akarawita area on Gampaha – Ja-Ela road, has been removed.
Project Director Nalin Ratnayake said that the construction of the section from Kadawatha to Mirigama is scheduled to be completed within the next two years at a cost of Rs. 158 billion under a concessionary loan from the Exim Bank of China.
