(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –A woman has thrown her five-year-old child into the Kelani River near the Kadirana Bridge in the Wattala Police Division.
According to the police, the woman had thrown her child into the Kelani River last night (15) and she too had tried to jump into the river.
Residents of the area had stopped the woman from jumping into the river and later handed over to the police officers on duty at the adjacent roadblock.
Police say that a 5 year old child has been thrown into the river. The child has not been found so far and the police with the assistance of naval officers are continuing their search for the child.
The suspect is a 42 year old woman and she is due to be produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court today (16).
Wattala Police are conducting further investigations.
