(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says that a Heavy Fuel Oil Cargo and another petrol cargo arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (21).
In a Twitter post, the Minister said that after testing the samples for quality, the unloading of the fuel will be started immediately.
He said the Heavy Fuel Oil is to be used for power generation and industries.
Minister Wijesekera said the fuel will be distributed only according to the Last Digit of Number Plate and Fuel Quotas system.
Another ship carrying a stock of 40,000 metric tons of petrol is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today. This petrol cargo is brought to Sri Lanka by the private fuel supplier, Lanka IOC Company.
Meanwhile, a ship carrying 3,700 metric tons of Liquefied Petroleum (LP) gas arrived in the island this morning (22). The state owned LP gas distributor, Litro Gas Company said the unloading operations have already started.
Litro Gas said it is currently distributing LP gas throughout the island continuously and released 100,000 gas cylinders to the market today.
