(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has issued an extraordinary gazette notification imposing several conditions on the manufacture, import, storage, marketing or sale of 48 items including essential items.
Under the conditions a manufacturer, an assembler or a seller must supply the goods demanded by a consumer or any person within a reasonable period and without delay.
The manufacturers must maintain maximum of manufacturing capacity unless there is no sufficient raw material, labor or machinery in possession or control of the manufacturer, or where any other factor does not affect the manufacturing process.
It has been further ordered in the relevant gazette notification that whenever a product is sold, a copy of a receipt containing the identity, date and value of the product should be kept in possession at all times.
