(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Hearing-Impaired Dance Group of Brandix Apparel Limited, recently participated in a celebration to mark the International Day of Sign Languages. Held on September 23rd, the event was jointly organised by the Department of Social Services and the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment.
The 12-member dance team, all of whom work at Brandix’sRambukkana facility, graced theSethsiripaya Stageat the main auditoriumin the presence of State Minister of Social Empowerment, Mr. Anupa Pasqual and many high-profile guests.
With a culture that values fostering diverse talents, Brandixemploys a total of 154 persons with disabilities, of whom 103 persons are hearing impaired. The same hearing-impaired dancing team of BrandixRambukkana facility performed a stunning dance act at BrandixRasadiyaMangalya in 2019, amuch-looked forward toannual talent and award show for all Brandix members. In 2018, three hearing-impaired associates of the BrandixKoggala plant participated in the T20 Cricket World Cup for Hearing-impaired persons, taking home the championship title.
