FCCISL meets the Thailand Ambassador

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Thepresident of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) Keerthi Gunawardane, and the board members Saranga Wijeyarathne, Darshaka Rupasinghe,Abbas Kamurdeen, met the Thailand Ambassador, His Excellency Poj Harnpol at the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo.

The Chamber officials had a very fruitful and cordial discussion with the Ambassador on strengthening business ties of two countries.

During the meeting the Ambassador has highlighted his observations points of recent budget of Sri Lanka. He has praised the development plans proposed in the budget based on export driven economy, digital economy, Green economy. The Ambassador stated the possibilities of the Thailand to assist and share knowledge in these areas highlighted in the budget. He stated in the area of agriculture there are many possibilities for Sri Lanka to work togetherwith Thailand and share knowledge. FCCISL as the apex body of business Chambers appreciated his gesture to support on specified area since FCCISL represents many regional chambers; some of them have a large agricultural base membership.

The Ambassador addressed the need of improving the easy of doing business in Sri Lanka which will have a direct impact of rapid development of FDI and trade.

FCCISL proposed a collaboration with the Thailand organizations and partners to move forward this initiative for the benefit of the regional chambers. We stated in the proposed FTA with Thailand need to be mutually beneficial for both countries and ensured the FCCISL will work towards improving the ease of doing business and work as a catalyst to improve business among Thailand and Sri Lanka.
