(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Pro Food, Pro Pack & Ag-biz 2022, Sri Lanka’s only comprehensive food, agriculture and packaging exhibition, ended its 3-day event on the 20th of November, in grand scale with all stakeholder thoroughly satisfied and looking forward for next years’ exhibition.
The event was inaugurated by Hon. Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Industries and Hon. Dilum Amunugama, State Minister of Investment Promotion, together with other dignitaries. It was a grand affair with crowds gathered to witness the opening of this expo which, could not be held in the past two years due to the global pandemic.
Exhibitors were quite impressed as this year witnessed a higher percentage of visitors compared to previous editions, visitors on the other hand had an array and selection from over 280 stall holders to discuss any matters pertaining to food, packaging and agriculture. Sampling by many food and beverage companies attracted the many housewives that throng the BMICH to check out the latest recipes and products showcased by their favorite brands.
The packaging machinery companies had several meetings with prospective buyers and startup companies looking for the latest technology and know-how in packaging.
The event is a platform to interact with prospective buyers and also understand the new technology that is being used for the sector. Moreover, the event featured all facets of the food and beverage industry and included intricate details and the meticulous processes that are required, to make food products available to the consumer.
A highlight at this year’s expo was the special pavilion by the Export Development Board (EDB) which showcased a “National Packaging Pavilion” giving SME’s and small-time businesses the tools and know how on value added packaging services.
The 3-day expo attracted over 25,000 visitors that enjoyed an exhibition of international standard with a specialized pavilion from India with over 48 companies participating.
The exhibition was organized by the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association together with event partners Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (Pvt) Ltd (LECS). The exhibition was supported and endorsed by the Ministry of Industries, The Ministry of Agriculture and National Agribiz Council.
This is the only exhibition of its kind to be held in the Island and over the years it has been known to provide each visitor and stall holder with a unique and unparalleled experience in terms of networking, sales leads and knowledge.
