(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Finance has issued a Gazette notification banning the import of rice, except the Basmathi variety.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy has issued this gazette notice subjecting the import of rice to the license system.
However, the shipments which are already on the way and stocks for which Letters of Credit have been opened before December 09, 2022, can be cleared under special license, it said.
