(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Leader of the House and Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha emphasized in the Parliament yesterday (17) that 34,000 graduates and national diploma holders will be recruited as teachers for the Sri Lanka teacher service before the start of the first school term this year on March 27.
Responding to a question raised by Member of Parliament Imtiaz Bakeer Markar, the Minister also stated that 26,000 graduates and 8,000 national education science diploma holders will be recruited for the government service.
The Minister said that when an election has been declared, the approval of the Chairman of the Election Commission is required for recruitment and as soon as the approval is received, notices will be issued for the recruitment of 26,000 graduates for teacher service. The minister said that the recruitments will be done before March 27, when the first school term of 2023 begins.
Minister of Education also mentioned that 8000 diploma holders who have graduated from the National Colleges of Education will be recruited and by recruiting this group, the teacher balance will be completed before the start of the first school term of this year.
