(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Seventeen people including two children and the leadership of the Ukrainian interior ministry have died in a helicopter crash in eastern Kyiv, authorities said.
The helicopter came down by a kindergarten in Brovary, a suburb of the capital, early on Wednesday morning.
Those killed included Denis Monastyrsky, the interior minister, and his deputy, local media reported citing a police spokesman.
Nine of those killed were aboard the emergency services helicopter that crashed in Brovary, Kyiv’s eastern suburb, Ihor Klymenko, chief of Ukraine’s National Police, said.
A total of 22 people were injured, including 10 children.
The cause of the crash has not been established.
