(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –Sri Lankan Cricket Team’s dashing left-handed batter Danushka Gunathilaka has landed into deep trouble. The batter has been accused on four counts of sexually assaulting a woman whom he met on the dating app Tinder way back in November 2022 during the T20 WC where he was a part of the Lankan side.
The batter has been in & out of the side where he hasn’t been able to perform on a consistent basis. Gunathilaka made his T20I debut way back in 2016. The island nation recently used him in the middle order as he has quite great hitting prowess.
Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam has recommended Sri Lanka’s Sports & Youth Affairs Ministry to suspend Danushka Gunathilaka from all forms of the game until a verdict comes. A five-member committee chaired by retired High Court Judge Kusala Sarojani Weerawardena also contains Sri Lanka’s tour of Australia report, Chamika Karunaratne’s disciplinary breach, and some irregular financial activities by the board.
