(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – A discussion was held Yesterday (14) between State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Italy, and Mr. Edmundo Sirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy Edmundo Sirielli, said that the Republic of Italy appreciates the steps and measures taken by Sri Lanka to revive and strengthen the economy of Sri Lanka.
Much attention was paid here to the expediting of bilateral MoUs necessary to implement the “Migrant-Worker Plan” aimed at securing employment opportunities in the Italian Republic for the people of Sri Lanka.
Pointing out that the tourism sector primarily contributes to the economic stability of the country, the state minister requested the Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to provide support in attracting more Italian tourists to Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the Republic of Italy will support the tourism sector too.
