(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya ordered the appointment of an investigation panel comprising five judicial and forensic medicine experts to determine the cause of death of businessman Dinesh Schaffter.
Accordingly, Prof. Asela Mendis, Prof. DCR Perera, Prof. DNP Fernando, Dr. Siva Subramaniam and Dr. Rohan Ruwanpura have been appointed for the investigation panel.
The expert panel is to conclude the cause of Dinesh Shafter’s death and submit it to the court. After that, the inquest was ordered to be convened on March 14.
Since there were contradictions in the post-mortem report submitted regarding the death of Dinesh Schaffter, the Magistrate has appointed this investigation committee to study it extensively and conclude the cause of death.
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court on 17 February 2023 decided to appoint a five-member committee consisting of expert forensic medical officers to determine the cause of death of Dinesh Schaffter as there were contradictions between the original version of the post-mortem report and the final detailed report related to the businessman’s death.
