(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Agriculture has urged farmers to sell their maize socks harvested during the Maha season promptly.
As there is currently a shortage of maize in the country, the government has decided to import maize again.
Although some farmers are keeping their stocks of maize in anticipation of rising maize prices, if maize is imported, the prices may drop considerably, the Agriculture Ministry cautioned.
Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture requests the farmers to sell the stocks of maize promptly as they are getting a good price for maize at present.
