(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday has removed three governors with immediate effect.
Northern Province Governor Jeevan Thyagaraja, North Western Province Governor Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda and Eastern Province Governor Mrs. Anuradha Yahampath have been removed by the President Monday
The new Governors will be appointed to three provinces by the President on Wednesday (17), the President’s Media Division said.
President Wickremesinghe has earlier asked governors of several provinces to resign, as it is customary for the governors to resign when a new president assumes office.
However, after the current president took office, the governors did not resign according to that tradition, so the President waited for some time for them to resign.
