Sri Lanka to import one million eggs daily from India

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation Chairman Asiri Walisundara said it has been decided to import one million eggs daily from five chicken farms in India.

The chairman said the eggs were imported from two chicken farms in India. In addition, the Animal Production Department has approved the purchase of eggs from three other farms in India.

The STC Chairman said that permission was received to import eggs from three more farms according to the report given by the three officials of the Department of Animal Production and the State Trading Corporation who visited poultry farms in India.

He said that the eggs imported at the rate of one million per day are planned to be distributed to bakeries and hotels.
