(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Indian Energy company Petronet LNG, has presented immediate short term solutions that can meet the liquefied natural gas (LNG) requirement of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera chaired a discussion along with the High Commissioner of India Gopal Baglay about the plan today at the Ministry.
The Minister emphasized that while a long term plan for LNG infrastructure will be finalized, options for short term solution to reduce the cost of generation in the next 24 months from the 600+ MW of LNG power plants available will be pursued.
The Minister thanked the Indian High Commissioner for organizing the presentation and discussion. he support provided for the implementation of energy projects in this country.
Officials of the Indian High Commission, Ministry of Power and Energy, CEB, Petroleum Development Authority of Sri Lanka and Petronet LNG participated.
