‘Karandu Eththu’ by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Italy, Dr. Jagath Wellawatta launched

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – A novel written by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Italy, Dr. Jagath Wellawatta titled ‘Karanda Eththu’ was launched at the Cinema Tiziano, a movie theatre in Rome, Italy, during the Sri Lankan Art and literature festival ‘Wastu’ organised by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Rome.

The novel revolves around a woman’s love towards her boyfriend, husband, and the complexities she has to encounter upon realising that she had been betrayed. There’s an undercurrent political reading of the novel too.

During the event, Sarasavi Publishers Managing Director H.D. Premasiri and Ambassador Wellawatta introduced ‘Karandu Eththu’ as the first novel that can be bought by Sri Lankans living across the world via an internet application. Indian Ambassador to Italy Neena Malhotra was the chief guest on this occasion.

The Maha Sangha, Chinese Ambassador to Italy Jia Guide, Mynmar Ambassador to Italy Hmway Khyne, and a large number of diplomatic officials, took part in the event. Also, author Mohan Raj Madawala and a number of artistes such as Shyam Fernando, Sarath Kothalawala and Manjula Senarathne were also present.
