(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) –A 42-year-old resident of Wadduwa area who was injured in a shootout in Mahawatta Road area of Metiyagoda died on admission to Balapitiya Hospital.
Recently, the Police Special Task Force has received information that a suspect involved in the shooting death of Inspector Balendra in the Rathgama police Division on October 9th is staying in a house.
Accordingly, while checking the suspicious place in that area, a person who was staying in the house has opened fire and the police special task force officers have returned fire.
The shooter was injured and died after being admitted to Balapitiya Hospital.
Further investigations are being conducted under the direct supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Elpitiya District regarding this incident.
