(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Model Janasabhas, established across the island to ensure public participation in policymaking, have achieved remarkable success. In line with this initiative, a unique Janasabhava was successfully inaugurated yesterday (December 21st) in the “Bolivarian Village” of Saindamarudu.
The establishment of this Janasabhava was spearheaded by Saindamarudu Divisional Secretary M.M. Aseek and Mr. Ravindra Silva, a resource person from the National Janasabha Secretariat.
These Janasabhas create physical, human, and other development plans to organize and develop their village (or urban unit). They identify priorities, resources, needs, and grievances to act as a formal management mechanism.
Furthermore, Janasabhas are empowered to function independently as living structures driving the village’s economic, social, and cultural revival and development.
This system empowers people and opens space for national development through individual development, accelerating rural progress.
