Afghanistan Advances to T20 World Cup Semifinals After Victory Over Bangladesh

(LANKAPUVATH | COLOMBO) – Afghanistan has secured a spot in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup cricket tournament after defeating Bangladesh by 8 runs, according to the Lewis method. In pursuit of a 114-run target for victory, Afghanistan fell short, managing only 105 runs in 17.4 overs.

Bangladesh’s Liton Das remained unbeaten with 54 runs, supported by Tauhidi Ridhoi who scored 14 runs and Soumyer Sakar contributing 10 runs. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Navin Ul Haq starred in bowling, each claiming 4 wickets.

This victory propels Afghanistan into the semifinals, marking a significant achievement in their T20 World Cup campaign.
