(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Supreme Court Judge and President’s Counsel W. Priyasath Dep took oaths as the 45th Chief Justice of Sri Lanka before President Maithripala Sirisena earlier Thursday (02).
Justice Dep who served as the 40th Solicitor General of Sri Lanka from 2007 to 2011 is also a senior Supreme Court Judge and has previously served as Acting Chief Justice on several occasions.
He will replace Justice K. Sripavan who retired from service upon reaching the retirement age-of-65.
