(KEGALLE, LANKAPUVATH) – The Police have arrested the main suspect over the Deraniyagala double murder. A 20-year-old youth was arrested this morning (09) in connection with the killing of 2 in Deraniyagala on Monday (06), the Police said.
A 7-year-old girl child and her 45-year-old relative were stabbed to death while the child’s mother sustained severe injuries during the family dispute. The suspect had fled the scene soon after the crime.
It was reported that the suspect was a resident of Magala, Deraniyagala. The suspect would be produced before the Avissawella Magistrate today.
Deraniyagala Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
