(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Steps have been taken to create 100 Wi-Fi zones in the Colombo city as a first step of the island wide program of providing free Wi-Fi. By now the Colombo Municipal Council has initiated to setting up 20 Wi-Fi zones within the city and more than 10 Wi-Fi zones are already running.
This project has implemented as a concept of the Hon. Prime Minister.
This machine will provide the public an in-build Wi-Fi as they are frequently engaged browsing internet in today’s growing technological world.
This will make our city tech friendly and makes our public a technologically advanced citizen. In addition, it includes facility for the public to charge their mobile phones while they are on the street and a Trash Can which accommodate 75 cubic liters of waste at a time.
As the second step, steps are being taken to identify the remaining 80 locations within the city of Colombo. This Project is planned to be implemented in Matara, Galle, Nuwara and other cities of Sri Lanaka in the near future.
