(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –President Maithripala Sirisena says that he is committed to deliver the development needs of the citizens of Colombo city in a justifiable manner by inspecting the works of the Colombo Municipal Council personally while providing the necessary facilities to the Council.
The President made these remarks addressing a public rally held in Colombo Central, yesterday (25).
The President further said that the beauty of the City of Colombo, does not reflect through the lives of the people living in the City. He also said that the people living in some parts of the city, including the residents of estate colonies are suffering as a result of inaction of the politician they have voted, as they do not fulfill their respective duties properly towards these people.
After the local government elections, the Colombo Municipal Council will be turned into a Council which will solve the issues of the people, the President said and added that with this move solutions will be found for all the issues of the people including the education, health and welfare.
This public rally was organized to ensure the victory of the candidates contesting under the UPFA banner for the upcoming Colombo Municipal Council election at the Aluthkade Junction with the participation of a large crowd.
Ministers Mahinda Amaraweera, Faizer Mustapha, Dayasiri Jayasekara, State Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Thilanga Sumathipala, Weerakumara Disanayake, Azath Sali, Pradeep Jayewardene and others participated in this meeting.
