(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The restrictions imposed on access to several social media websites will most likely be lifted on Friday, the Government said today.
The Government says the restrictions will be lifted following talks to be held with Facebook on Thursday.
The restrictions were imposed following the recent communal violence in Kandy which was believed to have been ignited using social media.
The Government is expected to look at working with Facebook to block content which could incite communal hate from being published in future on Facebook.
