(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Cabinet approval has been granted previously to develop the Gem Street Demuwawatha, Ratnapura as an International Gem Street and to construct a Gem Tower with the objective of constructing a specific centre for providing all the required services efficiently for the gem and jewelry sector under one roof within the Ratnapura city and to attract buyers for medium scale entrepreneurs.
Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, to construct a four storied building at a land in extent of 22 perches located at Limewatta, Demuwawatha Street, Ratnapura and to establish business places, gem laboratory and banking, export and customs facilities therein, was approved by the Cabinet.
