Sri Lanka Customs arrests Indian national at Colombo airport with Rs. 19 million worth gold

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport has arrested an Indian national attempting to smuggle in stock of gold biscuits and jewellery valued over Rs 19 million.

The 32-year-old suspect is a resident of Kerala State of India.

The stock of gold weighing 3 kilograms and 13 grams was concealed in a portable hydraulic car lift, the Custom officials said.

The value of the gold has been estimated to be Rs. 19,082,630.
