(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –David Hasselhoff has admitted that he ‘didn’t think it was right to marry’ his 38-year-old wife Hayley Roberts because of their 28-year age gap.
The pair married after seven years together in an intimate ceremony in Puglia, but now the former Baywatch star and Hayley have revealed that their age gap did concern them at the start, when they first began dating seven years ago.
‘For the longest time I didn’t think it was right to marry Hayley as I was so much older and I didn’t want to take away the fun and the youth and the excitement of growing old together and having children,’ said The Hoff, 66.
‘We’ve been together for about seven years and we’ve had such a great time. I’ve realised how much I love Hayley and how much we’ve become part of each other’s life.’
‘David acts so much younger, he doesn’t see his age. I’m probably older than my years. I don’t feel like he’s that much older than me,’ added Hayley. Speaking to Ok! magazine after their wedding – which included a dance-off, David serenading Hayley with a song and a pool party to top the night off – David also revealed why he asked his two daughters, Taylor Ann, 28, and Hayley, 25, to pass him his wife-to-be’s wedding ring during the ceremony.
‘They know Hayley and they know she makes me happy and they know that I need her as much as she needs me – I actually need her more. All they want is for me to be happy – I’m blessed,’ he said.
