(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – India welcomed the resolution of nearly two-month long political crisis in Sri Lanka following the reinstatement of the ousted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Sunday.
“As a close neighbor and true friend, India welcomes the resolution of the political situation in Sri Lanka,” India’s External Affairs Ministry said.
“This is a reflection of the maturity demonstrated by all political forces, and also of the resilience of Sri Lankan democracy and its institutions.
Issuing a statement regarding the recent political development in Sri Lanka, the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar said India remains committed to taking forward its people oriented development projects in Sri Lanka.
“We are confident that India-Sri Lanka relations will continue to move on an upward trajectory.”
