Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva appointed new Navy Commander

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has appointed Rear Admiral KKVPH de Silva as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, with effect from 1st January 2019.

Rear Admiral Priyal de Silva received his letter of appointment from President Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat, today (Dec 31). He will be assuming duties as the Commander of the Navy from 1st January 2019.

Rear Admiral Priyal de Silva, served as Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy prior to his appointment will replace the 22nd Navy Commander Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe.

Secretary to the President Udaya R. Seneviratne and Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando were also present on the occasion.
