(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – A special dengue control programme will take place today and tomorrow (January 10th and 11th) at 40 identified high risk MOH divisions in the Western Province, Jaffna district and Kilinochchi district, Health Ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the programme will be jointly implemented by the Health Ministry and the Presidential task force established to control dengue. Within one day 590 groups consist of the members of armed forces, health workers etc. There is a significant increase in reporting dengue patients during the recent past due to existing weather condition.
Special attention will be paid to inspect construction sites, schools, religious institutions, public places etc. Shramadana campaigns will take place in relevant areas with the participation of the community organizations, he said.
The National Dengue Control Unit advice the public to clean all premises, especially schools, construction sites, religious institutions, state institutions and all public places for 30 minutes weekly in order to destroy all possible mosquito breeding sites, he added.
