(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – The Chairman of the Talawakelle-Lindula Urban Council, Ashoka Sepala, and ten members of the council have obtained membership of the United National Party (UNP) yesterday (March 12).
They obtained their UNP membership from party leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Parliament complex today. National Organizer of the UNP, Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake was also present at the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe urged the youth to abandon bankrupt politics and develop the country and emphasized that a bankrupt country will not be handed over to future generations.
At the last local government polls, Asoka Sepala was elected to the Lindula Urban Council contesting independently. Later he became the Chairman of the Council under the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
With the change in party affiliation of the members, the Talawakelle-Lindula Urban Council was established as a UNP Urban Council.
