(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Sri Lanka Police say that special operations will be conducted during the festive season and 8000 police officers will be deployed across the island for the safety of the public.
Motor Traffic DIG Ajith Rohana said around 8000 police officers will be deployed to control the flow of traffic and to reduce the occurrence of accidents during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year,
A special operation will be launched to nab drunk drivers during the holidays. DIG Ajith Rohana said 25,000 breathalyzer devices will be distributed among all police stations in the country from today to catch intoxicated motorists.
A comprehensive program is being implemented to prevent accidents, said Mr. Ajith Rohana.
