(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena has extended the term of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the frauds in SriLankan Airlines, Mihin Lanka and SriLankan Catering by another month.
The President in an extraordinary gazette notification issued Friday (24) has extended the term of the Commission, which was set to end on 30 May 2019 until 30 June 2019.
Previously, the President had extended the term of the Commission on three occasions.
The Presidential Commission was established on 31 January 2018 by Notification published in the Gazette Extraordinary No. 2056/41 dated 02 February 2018.
The commission is tasked to investigate into alleged irregularities in connection with Sri Lankan Airlines Limited, Sri Lanka Catering Limited and Mihin Lanka (Private) Limited during the period 01st January 2006 to 31st January 2018.
It commenced recording of evidence on 04 June 2018.
