(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Consumer Affairs Authority has issued a gazette notification announcing the Maximum Retail Prices for rice effective from 31st May, 2019.
The Consumer Affairs Authority orders that “no producer, distributor or trader shall sell, expose or offer for sale or display for sale” above the Maximum Retail Prices for varieties of rice noted in the gazette notification.
Accordingly, the MRP of White Samba – steamed/boiled – Local (excluding Keeri Samba and Suduru Samba) will be Rs. 85 per kg, White Nadu – boiled/steamed – Local (excluding Mottaikarupan and Attakari) Rs. 80 per kg and Red Nadu – boiled/steamed – Local (excluding Mottaikarupan and Attakari) will be Rs. 74 per kg.
