(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The possibility of introducing a pension scheme for the members who have completed 20 years of service in the Civil security forces or female members completing 22 years of service or the members of the civil security force who are fifty years old will be discussed with the ministry of finance and steps will be taken in the future regarding the matter, said President Maithripala Sirisena.
President Sirisena made these remarks participating in the ceremony held for opening the newly built Civil Security Department Headquarters yesterday (4).
Answering a long term need of the Civil Services Department, the Headquarters in Katubedda, Moratuwa was built spending Rs.120 million.
President who addressed the ceremony further mentioned that the contributions made by the Civil Security forces together with the Tri forces and the Police in the battling grounds against 30 years of war cannot be erased from the history.
President mentioned that every possible step will be taken towards their wellbeing and according to a promise made in 2015 Presidential election the civil security service was made a state service.
At this event 9 appeals was presented to the President and those appeals which are related to the welfare of the members of civil services forces will be considered, said the President.
The President, who unveiled the commemoration plaque and opened the Headquarters engaged in an observational visit in the premises.
The members of the civil security forces who have left the service before 23rd April 2015, completing 60 years of age were presented with an allowance by the President.
The spouses of the members who have passed away were presented with the Widowed Parent’s Allowance and the gratuity by the President.
The devoted members who were involved early in building Headquarters were appreciated by the President.
A special token of appreciation was presented to the President.
Ven. Iththepane Dhammalankara, Ven. Dr.Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thero, and State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijeywardena, Eran Wickremrathne, Jeewan Kumaratunga, Secretary-General of Defense Shantha Kotteogda, heads of Tri forces and police, Director General of Civil Security forces Chandrarathna Pallegama, and other officers were present in this event.
The President visited the Molpe Sri Gangarama Vihara which donated the land for constructing the building and paid his respects to Ven. Sri Padalangala Samitha Thero and inquired into the wellbeing of the Thero.
The Dathu Mandiraya and Dhana shala built at the Vihara with the contribution of the civil security force was opened by the President.
