(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The non-academic staff of the universities are due to launch a token strike today based on several demands including the removal of salary anomalies.
Dhammika S. Priyantha, Co-Chairperson of the University Trade Union Joint Committee said that the employees of all universities island-wide participate in the strike. He said that they have several demands including, resolving of salary anomalies, the increment of MCA allowance, and implementation of an open examination when recruiting employees for the universities,
The union leader said if their demands are not met, the non-academic staff will go on a continuous strike.
