Court eases bail conditions of bond scam accused Arjun Aloysius

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) – Colombo Chief Magistrate today ordered to ease the bail conditions of Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) director Arjun Aloysius, who was charged in connection with the Central Bank bond scam.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered to ease the bail condition set for Aloysius to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sunday morning of every week.

The Magistrate, considering a request by the lawyers of Arjun Aloysius, ordered him to appear before the CID on the last Sunday of each month instead.

The lawyer of Arjun Aloysius informed the court that the balance of an account belonging to the Perpetual Treasuries Ltd. which has been temporarily suspended by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, has not been issued since 02.16.2018 and requested the court to issue an order to notify the balance of the account.

The lawyer also pointed out that from 5th May 2019, the company has also been deprived of the right to invest the money in a company listed in the stock market and collect daily interest.

Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne directed the State Counsel representing the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Attorney General to submit facts with regard to the two matters in court on the 20th of this month.
