Kanjipani Imran sentenced to six years in jail

(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –The Colombo High Court today sentenced notorious drug dealer Kanjipani Imran to six years in jail.

He was sentenced to jail over the possession and trafficking of 5.3Kgs of cannabis.

In March, Mohommad Najim Mohammad Imran alias Kanjipani Imran was deported from Dubai and detained by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Imran had been arrested together with underworld leader Makandure Madush at a hotel in Dubai before he was deported.

He was later detained and further questioned under the controversial Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
