(COLOMBO, LANKAPUVATH) –An Italian television personality gave Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a wedge of Parmesan cheese on Tuesday during a press conference in Rome with Italy’s prime minister.
Video shows the woman, Le Iene correspondent Alice Martinelli, approaching the two officials and presenting Pompeo with the cheese, which a smiling Pompeo accepted.
He also thanked her for the gift before she was led away by security.
Martinelli can be heard explaining to Pompeo that the cheese is “what we make best in Italy,” and urging him to speak with President Trump about trade policy and the administration’s tariffs.
“Take it to Mr. Trump, please, and tell him we make it with our heart,” she said.
